I was reading various articles in the opinion section of CNN.com when I came across an article by Warren Throckmorton about anti-gay bullying.
At one point in the piece, Throckmorton makes the statement "As a traditional evangelical, I may have some differences of opinion with my gay friends."
Although the author says nothing with this statement (or any other in the article) that I would deem immoral or incorrect, I would respectfully point out that his "differences of opinion" are predicated by a state of sexuality that exists regardless of his evangelical beliefs.
In fact, I can't help but see Throckmorton's article and many others like it as products of a dellusion also known as the Just World Hypothesis.
I can understand the need to attribute another person's misfortunes to their own actions. In a perfect world, people would be responsible for their own destinies. Unfortunately, the real world is far from perfect, and for those of us who see it for what it is, the Just World Hypothesis is just fantasy.
